Vince Zampella, who helped create the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, according to.
