Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
