Information Available About the Those Lost of the Bondi Terrorist Incident
A minimum of 16 lives lost their lives and in excess of 40 were wounded when assailants opened fire at a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an attack Australian police are describing as a terrorist attack.
According to the most recent information, officials have announced the number of fatalities is 16, encompassing one of the alleged attackers. Furthermore, 42 people with injuries were transported to medical facilities.
The victims are yet to be formally identified, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father of five children, he worked as the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and acquaintances described him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.
She told the events before the attack, saying they were standing when the gunfire began. “He moved to protect me because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The pair were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had later relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, the Foreign Minister expressed that France shared the grief of his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was a fatality during the attack, as per multiple sources referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number remain under care, with several in serious condition. Those hurt comprise two police officers who attended the scene.
One of the injured is a bystander who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the attackers. Called a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Reports indicate he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also noted the response of those who came to assist. He said he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He told reporters he heard “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
