Indeed, it's Packed with Nonsense, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. Yet I Truly Cherish Meghan's Holiday Special.

No considering the season, it's always fair game for scrutiny on the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, expert and amateur alike, have hardly ever agreed so completely as when gleefully ripping the lifestyle show's initial installments to shreds. The prevailing view seemed to be a bigger monarchy-related faux pas had hardly ever taken place than the much-discussed pretzel-bagging incident.

Now, as a festive rebel, she makes a comeback for another round with a "Holiday Celebration" (also known as a Christmas special). But this time, the dynamic has changed. The familiar ingredients viewers are accustomed to – vague self-help platitudes, intense hospitality – remain, but set of a Christmas special, it all clicks into place. The puzzle has come together; it's a perfect snow storm.

At this stage, Meghan has become the oddball family member at most festive family gatherings – providing unasked-for guidance, and supplying the occasional strange exclamation. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and strangely comforting. And she appears happy enough; she's inflicting any harm.

She is aware her each tiny facial movement, word and gaze will be analyzed and scrutinized, but manages to seem relaxed and too blessed to be stressed.

Perhaps this is the first occasion in history where that well-worn saying – "Ignore them, they're just jealous" – could actually be true. The reason is, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration truly is delightful. Yes, it's all cringily ultra-extra, silliness and extravagant – but isn't that exactly what Christmas is about? And the advice she gives might be ridiculous, but the example she sets seems authentically shop-bought.

Whatever she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she executes with style. Her recipes looks delicious, the wreath she crafts is breathtaking, her presents are nearly too beautiful to unwrap. Nothing is average or aesthetically displeasing – including the way she secures her kitchen garment is creative and fashionable. She doesn't toss a meal in the microwave, it "goes for a spin", and she wraps gift paper like an origami guru. She also seems to be completely savoring herself throughout. How could any skeptical viewer not be charmed, filled with seasonal cheer and left with a deep longing for handmade crackers or a vegetable display where broccoli is positioned in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, naturally, but despite that, after the degree of scrutiny she has endured from the moment she met Prince Harry, the love child of two legendary actresses would struggle to act this genuinely. Her decision to alter or even soften her routine, even though it being so constantly, internationally ridiculed, is strangely reassuring. In our uncertain world, here is one thing we can depend on: Meghan will be like this, come what may. We will always know where we are with her.

If you're still not buying her brand, a reminder that will certainly come as a relief: you are not obligated to. We don't have mandatory conscription anymore, and should it be reinstated, it would be unlikely to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, conversely, you decide to tune in and are consumed by longing about her picture-perfect Christmas, you can take solace either. Whether you're a duchess or a everyday person, few children completely grasps the time and energy their parent puts in in the holiday season. So you can find comfort by picturing the young royals' faces when they open a beautifully scripted letter that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, rather than a candy.
