Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
