Close to 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity predicted across different parts of both areas.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.
