Britain Prepared to Utilize Seized Russian Holdings to Support Ukraine's Military Campaign
The British government is prepared to move forward with using the entire amount of seized Russia's assets to support Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a collective announcement, the leaders of the Britain, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to participate in talks.
They clarified that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the America.
British restrictions have frozen more than £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow launched its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had only been drawn from profits and interest generated on them.
Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their aim to push forward toward using the total worth of the seized Russia's state holdings to halt hostilities.
He stated that more measures in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.
This announcement is subsequent to European Union representatives convened in the Danish capital last week to consider using immobilized Russia's funds for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.
Recently, US President Donald Trump encouraged international partners to confiscate or employ immobilized Russian funds, as reported by reports.
The total of immobilized Russia's holdings in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow executed large-scale aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on Friday, causing power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and multiple additional areas.
Two people were killed and at least 20 people were wounded in the attack, the Ukrainian government stated.
In a update on X after the strike, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.
"What is required is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the G7 - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing sanctions," he stated.
"All penalty impositions undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.
Additionally that day, Zelensky told media outlets he would press Sir Keir to participate in the weapons procurement scheme, under which partner nations purchase arms from the US to donate to Ukraine.
While commending the Britain's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as apply further sanctions on the Russian Federation.
