Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The single features a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
